The collection includes the complete proceedings of the 12th annual convention of the Farmers' Equity and Cooperative Union, Farmer's Union correspondence and two complete issues of the Iowa union farmer (April 30, 1932 and May 1, 1937, the Milo Reno memorial issue).

Charles Linza McNary was not considered much of a campaigner. He gave one or two speeches when he ran for office, preferring to spend the campaign season on his Salem area farm. Farm leader. In the 1880s Reno campaigned actively for the Union Labor Party and the Farmers' Alliance. In 1921 he became president of the Iowa Farmers' Union and served in that capacity for nine years. In the 1930s he organized the National Farmers' Holiday Association seeking suitable prices for farm products, and in 1932 called for a "farm holiday" to strike for higher prices. The Iowa Farmers Union is a division of the National Farmers Union, established in 1902 and more formally known as the Farmers Educational and Cooperative Union of America.
